If you have a prescription for pain medications, anti-anxiety medications, stimulants, or antidepressants, you may find that some people would like you to share. They don’t hesitate to beg for your medication, offer to buy your drugs, trade for other drugs, or even go so far as to steal. So what can you do?
Medications are your own business — keep your personal info to yourself.
Keep drugs in a safe, private spot only you can access. Many schools allow students to keep meds locked in the student health center.
Explain that you don’t want to deal with anyone’s possible allergic reaction to a medication not prescribed for them.
Politely explain that you don’t have enough to share.
If you have to, lie to get out of a difficult situation. Say that you stopped taking that prescription. Or come up with something else that works for you.
